Through rapid prototyping, Plymouth Foundry produces a range of prototypes to reduce product development time and cost. We utilize a Spectrum Z™510 3D printer to produce functional prototypes, scale models, short production run parts, and visual prototypes directly from CAD data. This 3D printing machine can produce parts up to 10'' x 14'' x 8’’ in length, width, and height. It facilitates printing of product prototypes in sections, which can be finally integrated to produce complex assemblies.

To save product development time, the Spectrum Z™510 printer can be used to fabricate patterns, coreboxes, and core plugs required for building sand castings. Our 3D printing capability enables us to produce direct mold cavities for non-ferrous metal molds without any patterns or tooling. We also prototype molds for thermoformed parts and short run, molded plastic parts.

Bearings, brake calipers, and diesel engine components are typical product prototypes that we fabricate. Engineers and OEMs can use our custom prototypes to make design changes as well as analyze the color, fit, form, and finish characteristics of cast parts. In addition to scale models and prototypes, we produce mock up models that assist us to fabricate fixtures. Besides 3D printing, Plymouth Foundry also fabricates rapid prototypes through CNC machining.
