Green Sand Castings

With over 6 decades of experience in green sand casting, Plymouth Foundry manufactures small components weighing 1 oz as well as complex parts up to 150 lbs in weight. Typical ASTM-grade casting materials that we use in our sand casting process include austenitic ductile iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Available with tensile strengths from 20,000 psi to 100,000 psi, our high quality casting materials are suited for manufacturing general engineering parts that require high strength and wear resistance as well as pressure containing parts used in low temperature service environments.

Through spectrometer analysis and automatic nodularity testing, Plymouth Foundry inspects the quality of casting materials with ASTM ...

Machining & Turning Services

Our facility is fully equipped with 3- and 4-axis CNC machining equipment as well as manual machines to meet the general machining demands of various industries, including rail, truck, construction, pump, energy, mining, and prototype automotive. Plymouth Foundry specializes in machining custom components from castings as well as flat sheet or bar stock. Through machining, we add value to cast parts by facing, turning diameters, adding slots, pockets, holes, and complex surface contours. Gray iron and ductile iron sand castings, alloy steels, aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel are common materials that we machine. Special materials processed include plastic, nylon, and fiberglass reinforced plastic.

By utilizing our ...

Rapid Prototyping

Through rapid prototyping, Plymouth Foundry produces a range of prototypes to reduce product development time and cost. We utilize a Spectrum Z™510 3D printer to produce functional prototypes, scale models, short production run parts, and visual prototypes directly from CAD data. This 3D printing machine can produce parts up to 10'' x 14'' x 8’’ in length, width, and height. It facilitates printing of product prototypes in sections, which can be finally integrated to produce complex assemblies.

To save product development time, the Spectrum Z™510 printer can be used to fabricate patterns, coreboxes, and core plugs required for building sand castings. Our 3D printing capability enables us to produce direct mold cavities for ...
